This type of media product is a poster, a poster for the film The Grey starring Liam Neeson. From this image, you can tell that a lot of time and editing has gone into making it but underneath the text we can see that a lot of make up has been used to make Liam look weary and scarred and is sort of an added hint as to what happens in the film. This adds to the detail of the photograph that has been used for as the centre piece for this poster. The shot that has been used is a close up shot and it depicts Liam Neeson looking cold, weary and battle-scarred. It uses a lot of white lighting for a winter effect and a lot of fake snow to represent that its snowing, there is also fake snow in his facial to make it seem like its that cold its not melting. His eyes are also worth mentioning as it seems to me that they have bee darkened via photoshop in order to make it look like he is serious and is starring directly into you. The type of shot used also works well with the fact that its a portrait scale poster as it makes the face look centered, almost as if its what your direct focus should be on.

This type of media product is an Instyle magazine cover featuring Viola Davis, an american actress and producer. From this image i can tell that a lot of make up has gone into making her look as glistening as she is, this adds to the photo as it combines with the lighting to make her look bright. You can tell from the sequins that the light is from a different source other than the camera because there are only those particualar sequins glistening. The type of shot that has been used is a medium close up and i believe that its meant to show off the clothing she is wearing aswell as mainly her face. This type of shot is used all too commonly among magazine covers and it allows text to be suitably placed around the cover without overlapping anything. Lastly, the positioning of the photo and the direction that she is facing is basically telling us that she is obviously the centre of focus.
